Welcome to another blog post, today I wanted to do something a little different and give you a movie review!
Since there will still be plenty of people out there who still haven’t seen Days of Future Past, I really don’t want to give away too many spoilers and ruin it for people however, I want to try and highlight some pros and cons of the movie.
Let me start off by saying that, it’s actually one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Seeing it for the first time a few days ago I was angry one moment, happy the next, with tears streaming down my face minutes after that.
I’ve always loved going to movies. Since it’s not exactly cheap (£8.50 at my local cinema now) it’s not something I do every week but, I try to take advantage of Orange 2 for 1 Wednesdays and I also try to go and see the films that I have really really been looking forward to – like X-Men for example. I know you can buy and rent the DVD’s etc anywhere, anytime as soon as they are out but there’s nothing like going to see them in the cinema. The surround sound, in the dark, you can feel the sounds vibrating through your body during the louder sequences. Popcorn on your knee, smiling and crying at what you’re seeing and checking to see if your neighbour is feeling the same. Hearing the sniggers of other people during the funny parts, the quiet rustling of people eating sweets. It’s a wonderful atmosphere.
This latest X-Men film changes what it means to be an X-Men film. There’s time in a very dark future for the mutants and humans of earth, then we see the 70’s and the actions that create that terrible future we see. Epic battles and soundtrack music. Quality acting by some big names. Brilliant script writing. Gob-smacking surprises. It’s just the perfect package. I think I need to pre-order the DVD…
If you’re a fan of the X-men franchise, this movie is a game-changer, a huge turning point in the X-men story, with an enormous plot twist at the end, it changes the whole dynamic of the movies. There are numerous hints and references to other movies which really seats the movie firmly within the franchise and makes it a key part of the various stories. It’s a definite must see, emotional rollercoaster – especially for those who have seen/enjoyed being a part of this particular fandom.
Anyway, just wanted to share that with ya’ll. Obviously it depends what country etc you are in and everything but it’s definitely a film I would recommend. If you haven’t seen any of the other films it’s not the end of the world but, it does add that special element to the story in that you really know the bigger picture!
Ta ta for now 😉
